As we drove up to Primary Children's Medical Center (PCMC) on Saturday night, I said to Scott... Well, every kid has to eventually have their first accident, right?
We were leaving dinner on Saturday night when it happened. Scott and Lucas were walking hand in hand when Lucas purposefully fell to his knees and Scott pulled him back up by his hand. Now, this happens several times per day. But, this time something went wrong. Lucas fell to the ground and started crying. This is also something that happens... he's almost TWO people. Anyway, he wouldn't stop crying this time. In fact, he was pretty upset. Then we noticed that he wouldn't move his right arm and when he tried or I tried, he cried. Pretty hard. So, we loaded up in the car and went home. I thought I'd just watch him play to see if he would start using the arm again. Well, he didn't want to play. He just sat with his right arm motionless for 10 minutes. So, after a blessing and some Tylenol we were off to PCMC.
Three hours and 150 bucks later we got a diagnosis of nursemaids elbow. Don't worry, I hadn't heard of it either {sad that the nurse of the family had no clue what it was}. Basically Lucas' elbow popped out of socket. {ouch!} So, the Nurse Practitioner reduced it {popped it back in place} and a short 2 minutes later, Lucas was a new man! Apparently this is fairly common and typical to follow a "pulling" of the arm like Scott and Lucas had done earlier. The good news: A totally NON serious trip to the ER and a happy baby. The bad news: This may happen more frequently now. So, they taught us how to reduce it at home.

Aaaaahhhhhhh! That is awful! We saw Chris at church and she gave us a mini run down of your Saturday night escapade and I must say it sounds crazy! I had heard that kids arms can be pulled out of their soccets, but never for real! I am so sorry you had to spend time at the hospital, but so glad it wasn't too bad! Poor Lucas!
Oh no, how scary!! But at least not life threatening or something! Poor little guy though :(
How sad & scary. Glad he's ok.
So glad everything is ok! Being a parent can be scary sometimes huh! We were at the hospital with Ella on Fri. night! Just missed ya!
I love that he has a huge smile on his face once it was all over. We are so glad all is well.
Poor little guy. Yes, the dread ER visit is the worst. I am glad it wasn't serious though. I love your makeup by the way and Happy late Birthday!
YIKES! Sorry dude. That happened to my nephew, we popped it back in and it hasn't happened since. Hopefully Lucas will be as lucky. Still scary tho!
