Day-to-day

being a mom day to day is hard. oftentimes i feel like all i do is make meals, clean up the kitchen, clean up the toys, ask the kids to stop hitting and teasing... the list goes on. then you have moments (and they really are just moments) when all is happy and good.

lucas using his white board to draw the family. he was so proud. so was i.

millie dressing up like cinderella.
she insisted that we use her headband as a crown.

the kids playing baby in the basement.
getting along. having fun. yes.

Gaurdsman Pass

Two Sundays ago we took a drive to see the fall leaves up Gaurdsman Pass. We didn't see many pretty leaves... but we did see lots of snow! Gotta love Utah weather... one day it's 80 degrees... and 3 days later it's snowing like crazy in the mountains.

It was a little bright...
and Millie was trying escape my arms for a chocolate lab she spotted near by.

It's a little better with Daddy's cool sunglasses.

snowy saturday

a week ago saturday was a very snowy snowy day at our house.
it was so snowy that scott was forced to run 11 miles on a treadmill to train for his half marathon.
so snowy that we were bored.
and what do you do while you are bored?
torture your little sister and make silly faces with daddy.

innocent millie waiting for the torture to ensue.

a good, real smile from lucas.

scott's sisters would say that this face is hideous...
and i would agree. very hideous.

she's used to being tortured.
what else are little sisters for?

the fort

one day when i was trying to clean the kitchen floor, luke decided he need a fort to play in.
this is usually scotty's department, but luke and i gave it a shot.
since the kitchen chairs were already in the family room, we used them in our building structure. then came the blankets for the roof and doors.
it wasn't as good as a daddy fort, but
luke and millie had a great time playing in it.

and this is what my house looks like on a typical day.
luke hugging, carrying, or torturing millie...
and millie usually being a good sport, but then ends up crying.

sprinkle cake cookies

i got this idea from my awesome friend Shaunika.
i thought they were the perfect thing to cure up some afternoon boredom around here.
Luke loved doing these, and they were soooo easy!

you just use a cake mix and some sprinkles.
(i added cho chips to some, but i liked the sprinkles best)
all you do is make up the cake mix per recipe found here. I rolled the dough into balls and let Luke roll them in sprinkles prior to baking. That's why the sprinkles are so bright and colorful. They were not mixed in with the dough.
the best tasting ones were the round rainbow sprinkled cookies.
(pictured below)

these were a perfect way to get luke helping me with cookies with not a huge mess of homemade chocolate chip cookies!
luke was so proud of the cookies that he made, he insisted on taking them to Nana and Papa's house for dinner that very night.
and he is already asking me when we can make them again.

siblings & snow

Last week we got some snow... and then it warmed up and started melting. Best kind of snow storm if you ask me. Lucas' favorite thing is to shovel the drive way...
good thing since Scotty's motto on snow shoveling is
"The good Lord brought it and the good Lord can take it away!"
Even better that a snow blower has graced our garage this year.

These two crack me up. Lucas insists on playing with Millie constantly!
He wants to get her up in the morning. Help feed her. Play with her.  Give her her toys and blankie.
I have loved seeing them interact as siblings. It really has been wonderful to watch. I can't wait for Millie to get a little bigger so that they can interact more.
