We have been talking about taking me to the shooting range for a few months.

Yesterday was the day.

I got instructions from Jamin... and then more detailed instructions when I told him I had never shot a gun before. Let alone shooting a shotgun at clays.

I had a good time. Let's say my arms hurt... and my shoulders are sore.

But it was fun!

I'll be anxious to go again with Katrina's new smaller gun.

{translate: won't kill my arm because it's lighter and has less kick!}

wish lanterns

Last weekend we went to this fancy smancy wedding dinner for Erin & Braden.
We drove and partied with Sarah & Steve. The evening was loads of fun for everyone.
I must say however, that the Wish Lanterns were the highlight for me.

If you have seen Tangled, you have seen wish lanterns. At the end of the movie, a billion (that might be an exaggeration) wish lanterns are let off and it's awesome.

After dinner, we let off our own wish lanterns. It really looked amazing.

These pictures were taken with my phone, hence the bad quality, but I had to share!

hotel park city

This past weekend Scott and I went to Park City for our anniversary celebration. 

Over the years we have decided that it's much more fun to go stay somewhere than do gifts. This year we stayed at Hotel Park City. We had an awesome time shopping at the outlets, hot tubing, watching movies, eating at Ruth Chris Steakhouse, and just relaxing at the hotel.

We both agreed that Hotel Park City is the nicest hotel we had ever stayed at. A few years ago, we stayed at the Grand America. Hotel Park City was way better!

We had a great time. I think we should make it a tradition!

Maui: Sunset

Woah. I just went back to count the Maui posts. This is number TEN.

We're done folks. This is the last one! 

We went to Kaanapali one night at the recommendation of Josie.

Jo goes every year to Kaanapali and loves it. 

So... off we went to partake of those awesome ribs... and the sunset!

Maui: Kihei Kai

Kihei Kai was a great place to stay in Maui.

It was a cute little condo. Grills. Beach. Grass. Local Feel. 

We loved it there... 

Here are some of my favorite details of the property.

When Scott, J and Katrina asked me what I wanted to do in Maui... I said nothing.

By nothing I meant sitting on my butt on the beach reading, sleeping, eating.

You never know the beauty of sitting and reading on a beach until you are a mama.

I love my kids... but it was so nice to sit on the beach and not worry about them getting their mouths full of sand and getting sunburned!

Sarah is my go to book recommender... she lent this one to me for the trip. Loved it.

I also read a classic Nicholas Sparks.

We tried out the self timer. This is the best one we got out of about 30. I'll spare you the details and the torture of looking at them all... Let's just say S and J think they are hilarious.

In between the 8 or more hours we spend in the car were some beautiful spots. 

This was the coolest, most diverse tree I have seen.

BLACK SAND BEACH

Road to Hana.

I lied. This was the most beautiful beach I have EVER seen. EVER!

It wasn't your typical lay your towel and take a nap kind of beach. But it was beautiful.

The sand and rocks were BLACK. So unique. The green foliage against the black rock and blue ocean was an incredible site. This beach alone was worth all that time I almost threw up in the car.

Have you ever heard something that you just wanted to bottle up and take home with you?

I had never had that experience before... but I had it here. Right in this little cave. The sound of the tide flowing out of this cave against the rocks was intoxicating.

I wish I could listen to it daily. Although, it wouldn't have the same feel with out the sunshine and salt water breeze... but it would still be wonderful.

Then they talked us into it too. Made us stand in front of the darn thing for like 15 minutes waiting for it to "blow". Right when Katrina and I had had enough smiling for the camera... we turned away and it blew.

RED SAND BEACH

Road to Hana

We traversed the side of a mountain for this beautiful beach. 

It was worth it too. 

Even saw some naked sunbathers there. Not great scenery for our packed lunches.

This picture makes me laugh.

I mean really, could it be any more breathtaking???

At the top of the Road to Hana is a National State Park. 

We were supposed to hike to the seven sacred pools. 

We were too tired. 

This is two of them... at the start of the 3 mile hike. 

Loved seeing the beaches on the Road to Hana.... the pictures don't quite capture the beauty.

... but I don't think we'd do Hana again.

Maui: Air Maui

Jamin and Katrina talked us into it... and we are so glad they did! 

What a awesome experience!!!

Air Maui was amazing!

(We even bought discount tickets at Costco!)

The helicopter ride slightly reminded me of Soarin' at Disneyland... but soooo much better! 

The best part was taking nose dives over the cliffs where Jurassic Park was filmed. 

The pictures during the ride aren't the best... but you get the idea. It was beautiful and breathtaking.
