I like To Do Lists. I have lots of different lists... like cleaning the house to do list, Relief Society to do list, exercise to do list, pregnancy to do list, house to do list... and the list goes on and on. A big to do list involved Lucas and what we needed to accomplish before the new baby arrives. The list is 3 items long:
1. Big Boy Bed
2. No more Binkies
3. Potty Trained
Probably about a month ago we made a small cut in the top of Luke's binkies. It was subtle, but he noticed it. We made the cut a bit larger. He still sucked on them, but it seemed like he wasn't as dependent. One night, Lucas and I had a talk. A Big Boy talk about binkies. That night he woke up once crying for his "binkers" but that was the end of it. Much easier than I expected. Whew.
Next was the Big Boy Bed. This too was much easier than I expected. We switched Lucas to the spare bedroom, painted it, got a new bed and bedding, put some toys in there... and he's happy as a clam. He has been sleeping in his big boy bed for 2 weeks now. Naps were hard at first, but for the most part we have had no issues.
Now for the potty training. Any advice will be gladly accepted.

Hey Anya,
Good luck on the potty training. We trained Lucy just a couple of months after she turned two. She was so ready and we didn't want to stop her since she was showing signs of being ready. We let Lucy come to the store with us and pick out which underwear she wanted and also let her pick out a ton of drinks as well. Then we woke up the next morning and went cold turkey. We did it on a weekend that we didn't have anywhere to go and we just chilled at home and let her drink all of the drinks she wanted. It was great, cause it helped her have to go on a much more frequent basis. The first couple of days we had successes and accidents but by the third day things were going awesome. Hope everything works out for you and just make sure that he feels like he is the one getting to make some decisions. Also Lucy LOVED m&m's so we picked up a gumball machine and filled it with the m&m's and at first everytime she did anything with the potty she got some, then we switched to her getting some only when she went, then much later down the road she only got some when she did everything all by herself (wipe, wash hands, etc.) I guess the main thing though would be to find what works best for him and go with it! GOOD LUCK!
Thanks Jaime!
Lists....it's the only way I can function. We're starting to think about some of the same things that are on Luke's list. ;) We've started with restricting pacifiers to bedtime and naptime only. As soon as she gets over her cold, we're getting rid of the bottle, and then we'll tackle the big girl bed as it gets closer. Good luck with the potty training!
Anya, your little guy is so cute! I need tips on getting rid of the binkers and the ba-ba's.
Way to go Lucas! What a big boy! Sorry Anya I'm not help with Potty Training, but I'll be asking you for advise in a couple of years!
so i've been out of the blog world for a while and had no idea you were pregnant. when are you due? i'm pregnant too! due in august. do you know what you're having? i'm too lazy to search through you're whole blog for these answers. :O
Yeah, the binky and bed have never been a big issue. The potty training wasn't either for my first. However, with my second my arms are in the air and I am backed against the wall. I just hope for you that you have a son like my first when it comes to potty training. My advice....don't do it if they fight you. It has to be their idea. Boys are MUCH harder than girls.
