oh tootles.... look who's three!

lucas is three. he turned three on August 31st.

i am not quite sure where the last three years have gone.

lucas has brought us pure joy.

happy birthday lukie. we love you.

lucas started his birthday celebration at Nana and Papa's the Sunday before his birthday. i had worked the night before, and thus i was in a fog that entire sunday and forgot a camera to capture any birthday moments. yup, i am that good of a mom. lucas got to eat a yummy dinner, a delicious cake, and open some great gifts!

the next day, (the day before his birthday) lucas had a birthday party with his friends. he had mentioned once that he wanted a mickey mouse party... so we went with that and had a mickey mouse swimming party. the weather didn't quite cooperate. it was rainy and cold for the first day all summer. 

but... we still managed to have a great time!

we had all of luke's friends and their families come to my parents home for a bbq and swimming. we left the swimming to the dad's and kids... and they had a great time! it was just super cold when they got out! 

these sad little cupcakes didn't turn  out as i had planned. the ice cream melted way too fast! 

oh well... it was fun to try to do something creative!

one of the highlights of the night was watching lucas open his gifts from his friends. i think it's hilarious how all the kids mob the birthday child!
