A few weeks ago Lucas was really trying to get out of his crib... so I thought we'd give the toddler bed a try. Lucas was SO excited about his new bed. He loved it! He wanted to go "night, night" at all hours of the day. He wanted to show his grandparents his bed when they came over... so I thought we totally lucked out! Well, I was wrong. Sleeping is a big deal at our house, no it's a HUGE deal. I never blogged about this, but I changed jobs about 9 months ago and work graveyard shifts now. So, when I get home at 8am after working for 12-13 hours I am tired! Most of the time Lucas is still sleeping and I can get an hour or so before he wakes up. Really my saving grace for the day is nap time. So, when Lucas started waking up at 8am when I got home and jumped right out of bed... just because he could and he thought it was awesome I thought no big deal, I can deal with it. Nap time is in a few hours. So, when Lucas stopped taking his naps because he could just jump out of bed and walk out of his room... I put my foot down. (He even got out of his room, day 2 of having the childproof lock on his door nob. Awesome.) So, we are back to the crib. Lucas doesn't mind and now he'll take naps like normal. One day we'll have to try again. Today is not that day.

One day he fell asleep in front of his door... so when I opened the door, it wouldn't open because he was blocking the path with his bum!

I keep my kids in a crib as long as possible. I value naptime way too much and choose to not battle daily over it. I even keep them in the crib after they climb out a few times because they all stopped after they realized it hurt to try that trick. Griffin turned 3 in July and is still in a crib. It is getting time to put him in a regular bed but he also figured out how to get out of his room with the child lock on the door. These kids are just too darn smart!
Oh my goodness I don't know how you work graveyards...especially when you have a little boy to take care of when you get home! I'd keep him in the crib for as long as you can so you can get some sleep! :)
Not only is Luke tall, but very smart!
